An early Twentieth Century Drop Arm Sofa arrived at the workshop in a make shift calico cover, from the way the calico had been placed, it led me to believe that at some point in its life a loose cover was used rather than fixed upholstery.
The seat had partially collapsed and needed to be stripped out, it was mostly made up of cotton felt so I replaced this with a hair seat with a stitched front edge, supported by a cane.
The drop arm sofa is now back to full working order with a fixed cover.
My client chose a Harlequin wool mix fabric which sits beautifully on this piece and was a joy to work with.
